"Paint Tube #1" October 12, 2005. In the collection of Diane Morgan of Indian Wells, California.
"Coastal Live Oak Twig" 6 x 4 gallery wrap canvas in the hands of Collector John Wickham of Los Angeles, California.
"Fig Bite" Original oil 5 x 7, in the collection of Ramie Little of Atlanta, Georgia
"Araucana Egg, Broken" original oil, 6 x 6 inches on gallery-wrap (no framing needed).
"Summer Squash" I went into the garden for the first time in a week, and did some weeding... and the zucchini and summer straight neck squash were already producing! I picked, threw a couple really big ones (how does zucchini DO that--grow so big so fast?) to the chickens, and brought this one in to the studio for today's painting.
The way the leaf was attached at the stem was intriguing, and its placement like a hand on the counter seemed to lend itself to a stalwart message... "We are not through yet; you will be buried in summer squash!" I'm fine with that, because his brethren were mighty tasty!
"The Orange Jug" I did make a window of time today to work on the 16 x 12 still life I showed you two days ago. Here it is newly modifed and "improved".
No longer bland, it has better light, better values and better color. Sometimes putting a work aside for a year or two can make a major difference in the end product. You just get smarter. Smarter about what to do to make a painting go from "ho-hum" to "ho-Whoa"!
My choices were to contrast the background with the flowers
and to lighten the values in the vase and foreground cloth. I wanted to consciously stick to the complementary blue/orange scheme, though. The end result is far more intimate than that "other thing".
"Rose #2" Another fall rose shows up in my garden. Original oil, 6 x 4 inches.
"Laquerware with Blossoms" A symphony of circles are found in this lovely still life with more of the laquerware in Elin's collection.  Original oil on canvas, in gold frame, 12 x 12 inches
Sidelit Study This canvas panel is only 7 x 5 inches, but is full of the rich color and compositional balance that makes Elin's work so sought after.
"Temecula Roses" Demonstration for her class in the Temecula Rose Society's Rose Garden, Elin painted thiese sumptuous golden beauties.  On a gallery wrap canvas, this 12 x 12 painting is an original oil.
"Red Pear #1" Fall fruits are in the stores, and this red pear was asking to be painted! Original oil on canvas, 7 x 5 inches.
"Matilija Poppies and Fruit" Tiny at 7 x 5 inches, this little detailed piece would look lovely in a small wall space. The matilija poppies are also called the "fried egg flower" because of their resemblance to a sunny side up!
"End of Summer" Daily painting for October 24, 2005. This is a part of a watermelon that I bought for the Open Studio snack plate, but this portion of the seedless delight never made it to the tray! Original oil on canvas, 5 x 7 inches.
Pomegranate Delight A little celebration of this Octiber fruit, cut and torn to reveal the gems of seeds inside. Only 5 x 7 inches, this original acrylic has to a collector in Northern California. (Thank you, Diane!)
"Can't Elope" October 15, 2005. Fourth in the "365-4-100" painting endeavor by yours truly. Of course, this was my dinner dessert! "I knew it well...", she said, before eating it. Original oil, 4 x 6 inches, gallery wrapped, painted on the sides, no frame needed!
"Gala (Apple)" October 14, 2005. The third of the "daily paintings" on my journey into expressive glimpses into ordinary things. I'm sure having fun with these. For sale for $100. Oh, yes. I ate the apple after I finished painting it. Original 4 x 6 canvas, gallery wrapped, painted on the sides, no frame needed!
Color Quick Study Any time I can offer an instruction to a student, I will do so... and this was a 7 x 5 inche study was to show how it is possible to get pure color if you think about where you want light and color to work. Original oil on canvas, 7 x 5 inches.
"Busted" Now living on the East Coast, where this kitty's identical twin raises Cain in her beloved owners' home.
Roses, Roses, Roses!   This little painting is on gallery-wrap canvas, an inch and a half deep, and the roses wrap around the edges!  Original oil on gallery-wrap canvas, 12 x 12 inches living in its new home in Canada.
