When to e-mail your Instructor
|
Since our class consists of 35 very active students, and I have three classes, please use the following guidelines in regards to e-mail:
If you have a question or problem, posting it in the public forum will allow the instructor (or other helpful students!) to respond publicly and other students may benefit. Your instructor will be checking posts every day during the first week, and every other day thereafter.
By maintaining a "no extensions" policy your instructor ensures that all students are treated fairly. By preparing assignments early you can be ready for personal emergencies, etc. Think of doing assignments early as a form of "course insurance."
If you must e-mail the instructor, please do so if you really think the matter is important, such as receiving a zero on an assignment you know you submitted. If you don't get a reply within 24 hours, please be patient. Emailing me several times with the same question won't make an answer appear any more quickly.
Your instructor has several e-mail addresses, but asks you to use the special e-mail address reserved just for Art 100: art100@mac.comBe sure to have your NAME in the body of the message! (I don't know who you are if the email is from carryme@yahoo.com and you don't put your name in it somewhere). I have filters set up to direct your emails to specific folders, and I'm sure you don't want to have your email lost in cyberspace!
To get a direct response to an important or sensitive matter is to telephone: (951) 742-7429 Press #3 for me if given that option (studio message machine, I screen all calls.) Please call during normal daytime business hours. Only call if you cannot reach me by email. I do want to ensure that you have answers to your questions, but if you use the ppendlenton@msjc.edu email, you probably won't get an answer. That email is full of administrative emails from the college and I cannot filter them to sort out your messages like I can using the art100 email.
