Fall 2008 Art Appreciation Online

Coursework & Calendar of Required Assignments

First, get your personal calendar out. Each week of the semester has a number, e.g., Week #1 begins August 18. Put the week number in your calendar and set a reminder for it. Second, there are NO specific due dates for work. Maximum possible points are earned when you turn in work during the week it is presented below. Mark your MSJC semester calendar for the entire term with a due date each week that works for YOU. If you follow those, you will help yourself in being successful. (And it gets you off the "mommy track" of having someone remind you of your responsibilities.) I recommend you do this during the first week.

All responsibility for turning in work for maximum points rests on YOU.

All assignments, reading and quizzes are given below. They are presented in a list, based upon the length of the course, separated into weeks. The numbers on the left represent the weeks of the course. I recommend that you follow this list in turning in your work, and submit the work before that week is over. For students showing exceptional responsibility, you can submit any of these early. Best advice: TURN IN YOUR WORK BEFORE THE WEEK IS OVER. Your "job performance" in this class can get you "F...ired" or "A..dvanced", so don't procrastinate. Besides, you lose points if you turn in work after the week's over. The later it is, the more points you lose.

In Summary:

YOU set the due dates for your work knowing that turning it in during the week it's presented will get you the maximum points.

YOU are responsible for your points!

YOU are responsible for turning in your work during the week in which it is presented.

YOU are responsible for setting a weekly due date for yourself. I can tell you that my week ends on Sunday night. When does YOURS end? (Remember, it matters not if I grade papers on Monday, but it does if you turn them in on Monday!!)

My experience in teaching this course is as follows: Students who use this guideline are successful in the course. Students who delay and procrastinate have a hard time earning a "C" grade.
